Thank God I'm Off Today! (Nathan/Beka)

Nathan had on the biggest grin that he had ever worn in his life. Today was Friday...the only day that he had his off from classes. What a beautiful life! Back in high school he was obliged to go five days a week...and instead of sitting behind a desk...he was sitting on a stool...of a coffee house.

This was...a bit strange yet exciting. One thing for sure though...he would definitely get used to adjusting to this new life.

"I love college," he told himself with a big grin. He looked at the menu board hanging up on the wall, trying to decide what sort of sweet junk to eat.

Beka, also enjoying one of her days off, happened to walk by, overhearing Nathan.

"You can say that again." She said.

He turned his head to see a brunette girl, whom he recognized from one of the classes he was taking with her. "Oh, hey! Rebekah right?"

"As far as I'm concerned, yep." She chuckled. "You're...in one of my classes. Nathan, right?"

"Oh good. Cause I usually horrible at remembering people's names, so glad I got it right." Nathan chuckled. "Yeah, that's me. Nice to meet you...again."

"Glad I stuck out enough for you to remember." She chuckled. "Same to you. Day off too, I'm assuming?"

"Yep!" He grinned. "I could totally sing Rebecca Black's song right now...but then I remembered how much I despise the song so much, urgh."

She rolled her eyes. "Thanks, now it's stuck in my head." She laughed. "She really bothers me...how she can get so famous and she can't even sing."

"I know right!" Nathan said, shaking his head. "But sadly that's how the world goes."

She sighed. "Yeah, unfortunately. She gets a record deal, while I get jealous and secretly wish I was her." She chuckled.

"Is that what you wanted to do as a career? Singing?" Nathan asked out of curiosity.

She nodded. "Yep. Probably the only thing I've ever wanted to do, well, the only thing that lasted for more than a day." She chuckled. "How about you?"

"Oh that's cool," Nathan smiled. "I'm actually not sure...I'm majoring in Marketing...for whatever reason I have no clue." He laughed. "My parents are the reason I'm here really. Sadly I can't be at home 24/7."

"Oh, well...you've at least got time to figure all that stuff out." Beka said. "Oh, they pushed you towards university?"

"Pretty much, yeah." Nathan said.

"Did you not want to go?"

He struggled to find the answer to the question. "I...never really thought much about it," Nathan shrugged. "I was just too busy making an ass out of myself in high school that I didn't...actually stop to think of what the hell to do with myself career wise, you know? I'm more of a *living life now for now* kind of person. Maybe that's the problem."

"Oh. Well, I mean I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I mean, you might as well enjoy your life as much as you can, right?"

"But still...I need a plan. It won't be nice to end up an old man and jobless," Nathan joked.

"Yeah, that doesn't sound like the ideal life." Beka chuckled.

"Not at all." Nathan said.

"Excuse me," the lady appeared behind the counter with a smile. "Are you ready to order?"

"Oh yeah .. forgot where I am." Nathan chuckled. "Chocolate mocha and a cinnamon roll for me." He looked over at Beka. "Would you like something?"

"Oh, just a coffee for me, thanks."
