That Roommate Of Mine (Beka/Lucy)

Beka scurried around her dorm room, trying to get everything in her room neat and organized. This would have been a simpler task, but sadly she had an obstacle in her way...her roommate. Not that she hated her roommate, or that she was a slob...but no matter what she did, she was completely criticized. If she put a poster on the wall over her bed, it was crooked. If she put her bed facing one way, it looked awkward. She felt like she couldn't do anything right. Anyone else would have had enough. But, Beka wasn't dealing with just anyone. She was dealing with someone way beyond just anyone.

Lucy, laying down on her bed while reading a magazine, looked over at Beka trying to get her things all set up. Of course, Lucy had her parents do everything for her, all she did was tell them where to put everything. It was amusing watching her roommate move all around trying to make her side of the room look presentable. It was sort of fun watching her try...and ultimately fail.

"Oh, honey...don't use those sheets. The color looks atrocious." Lucy told her.

Beka closed her eyes, trying to hold in her urge to yell. "Alright, Lucy...can we just agree to disagree here?"

"Well I'm just saying," Lucy said. "If I have to look at it all I day, at least make it look nice."

She rolled her eyes, but took off the bedsheets. This was a war she knew she wouldn't win. "Remind me again why you insisted on being my roommate?"

"Oh honey because I adore you," Lucy said with a smile, looking up from her magazine. "Oh, but, don't think about using those pink sheets you have. I mean we're freshmen in college, not fourth graders." Lucy started to laugh at her own joke.

"Oh I give up!" Beka said, throwing her hands up in the air. "You want to design my bed? Fine! Let me borrow some of your bed sheets then."

"Jeez, hun, overdramatic much?" Lucy scoffed slightly. Lucy got up from her bed, went under and pulled out a crate filled with her stuff. She pulled out some bedsheets and a blanket, matching of course, and held them out for Beka. "Here."

Beka was a little surprised that Lucy actually would lend her some of her things. "Oh, uh, thanks." She said, taking them from Lucy. "Holy crap," Beka exclaimed, feeling the fabric of the bedsheets. "These are so soft."

"I know." Lucy said, matter-of-factly. "And they cost more than your home. So none of that late night sneaking out for Oreos thing you do."

"I don't do that." Beka said defensively.

Lucy simply gave her a look.

"Oh, whatever." Beka said. "I promise not to get any sort of stain on them."

"Good." Lucy said. "Because if you do, you'll be explaining to Mommy and Daddy why you have to now strip for chump change because you're tuition is now mine."

Beka gave her a scared look. "You really don't play around with this stuff do you?"

"Nope." Lucy smiled.

Beka turned away from Lucy and started putting the sheets on her bed. "You do know not everyone is going to be like me towards you here."

"And what does that mean?" Lucy asked.

"Well...you should realize you're gonna have to be a little nicer to people."

Lucy looked at Beka confused. "Are you saying I'm not nice?"

Beka stood motionless for a bit...not wanting to say it outright, but figured she might as well say something. But nicely. "I mean, c'mon Lucy...the first time we met you asked me how many blind stylists it took to make my outfit."

"Honey, you were wearing plaid with a skirt, what in the hell did you expect me to say?" Lucy exclaimed, not understanding what the problem with her statement was.

Beka shook her head. "I'm just trying to give you a head's up here."

"Whatever." Lucy waved it off. "Everyone thinks I'm fabulous anyways." She said, looking back at her magazine.

"Oh really now?"
